hey Luis - well, I guess Niese just isn't MLB-ready yet. Besides, when he gives up a fantastic number of runs he's got no good quotes to give up, unlike Figgy who likened the Nats to a girls softball team or something, didn't he?

anybody who gets DFA'd 7 times a year is not exactly MLB ready either

Reyes is supposedly bot playing tonight because of a pain in his calf. Do you think he is in reality being disciplined for unfettered foolishness? Delgado does have his impingement again, along with a hip tear and a bone spur. JJ Putz has a bone spur in his elbow and took a shot. Gone for several days but should be "okay(????)" according to Omar. 91 and 92 mph is not "okay". For a guy who pitches like Putz, it sucks. What is this, Yankee Stadium East?

yup, jdon - I share the theory that this is Jerry's quiet way of giving Reyes the business, by benching him but letting him save face by pretending his got some mysterious calf ailment. Remember how Willie dealt with it? The Chump.
At least the bone spur explains why JJ's been inconsistent and giving up doubles to every batter he faces. Shot will do him good but if it doesn't do him good enough (like the shot Delgado got) the bullpen is in for a rough ride. Parnell is not quite ready for a prime time spot in the bullpen and there are hmmm, no other candidates. Luis Ayala anyone?
