All managers, except for God on Earth Tony LaRussa, follow the same formula because they are worried about the papers in the morning. I would be more worried about the availability of me for golf dates in early october. Jerry does not think out of the box. willie could not think his way out of a paper bag. Jerry is in a tough spot. He is working with garbage. Literally garbage. He cannot be faulted when this crap flunks. Omar is to blame. So I cut him some slack. When you look at this bullpen, his record since taking over is outstanding. I think they have blown 11 saves SINCE THE ALL STAR BREAK.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9457776.post-80709513659101315892008-08-31T21:32:00.000+01:002008-08-31T21:32:00.000+01:00IMFM - have you hidden Carlos Delgado's magic vood...IMFM - have you hidden Carlos Delgado's magic voodoo bat? And this wasn't the first time Jerry took Stokes out for a pinch hitter to try and produce runs when Stokes had done a good job a half inning before on the mound. Conventional thinking is not necessariy applicable to these Mets in late innings because there is no stable arm to go to.Jaaphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14918548497554962346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9457776.post-3135449615263865102008-08-31T18:08:00.000+01:002008-08-31T18:08:00.000+01:00J-Man needs to know his pitchers. Of course true knowledge would mean never using Heilman at all, but more practically, he can't be loading the bases with the FAIL Team he has in the pen. I agree with Jaap.

Stokes needs some time in the batting cage; I'm sure he can pop up just as usefully as anyone he is lifted for.I.M. You cannot pitch to Jacobs--he kills righties on our staff. Maybe you can walk Jacobs and pitch to Cantu. He is slow and a free swinger. But this is on Heilman. Heilman has no testicles. In the baseball sense, of course. He nibbled with Hanley who has never gotten a hit off of him. He nibbled with Willingham, even on 3-1 it looked like he was trying to get a corner. Manuel must want to strangle Mr. I Hate Contact. I will give you a radical approach. And this is not a second guess. I was actually hoping he left Stokes in the game to hit but he batte Easley. Not because Stokes has a couple of hits already, just to have a pitcher who has inspired trust stay in a close game. I have a man on second. I am pretty sure Reyes bats. Why not leave him in and not bring in Mr Gasoline Can? Jerry is a very conventional manager. The bases loaded thing and the pinch hitting thing are conventional moves. From here on out, in tie games or games with leads, the reliable pitcher hits. Forget add-ons. We never add on. And then we have to sweat out the gasoline cans.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
